About Neoneye Designs

Welcome to Neoneye Designs. My name is Piama Svoboda, and I am a surface designer. Here you can find information about me, my design work, links to products showcasing my designs, and a concise surface design portfolio.
I create unique and versatile designs that can be applied to a variety of products such as fabric (my passion!), clothing, wallpaper, stationery and office products, wall art, home decor, and more. My love of color, shapes, and inspiration from my eleven years living in the Czech Republic and the various other places I have lived and visited have helped shaped my art.

In addition to surface design, I am a trained oil painter, watercolor painter, and collage artist. Quilting has become an important part of my life, which has helped fuel my interest in fabric design. My mother taught me to quilt when I was twelve, after having learned basic sewing in school. I went from hand sewing Barbie clothes to making quilts and more advanced sewing projects (yes I made myself a pair of jeans once...and only once!). Quilting has really taught me about shapes and colors and how they can interact with each other.
I took oil painting lessons from the time I was fifteen and then while studying for my bachelor's degree, I ended up learning to make collages in an independent studies course that I fell into. As an adult I wanted to pursue watercolor painting, but wasn't interested in traditional watercolors, such as landscapes and still lifes. An artist friend of mine sat down with me and showed me watercolor techniques and how to use them with my own art preferences and style. This helped me immensely and opened me up to learning surface pattern design. Having learned Photoshop in college also helped with this process.
Living in the Czech Republic for eleven years, starting out with a study abroad program in college and me returning after receiving my art degree, also helped open my eyes to different kinds of art and cultural influences. Czech art is anything from traditional oil paintings to folk art to surrealism. I've always been drawn to off the wall art and I saw plenty while living there!
Please contact me if you are interested in licensing my designs. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for taking the time to look at my artwork!
